Fitbit helps people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration and guidance to reach their goals.
Solera is an integrated benefit network that matches individuals at high risk for type-2 diabetes with the best-fit digital or community-based DPP that meets each person’s needs.
In January 2017, Solera partnered with Fitbit to offer free Fitbit devices to DPP participants who remained engaged after four weeks. The goals were to stay engaged for longer; increase physical activity; help more people reach 5% weight loss
Baseline data was collected through an initial survey to determine eligibility. Data on weight loss and weekly activity levels were collected throughout the year-long program.
This study evaluated whether redemption of a Fitbit device was associated with higher activity levels and greater weight loss compared to the cohort that did not redeem a Fitbit.
